Unidentified song - probably a warbler. 1st May 2010.
Hidden in hedge N of Spynes by cycle path.
Turn up the volume on your speakers to full and ignore
the Common Whitethroat song. The unidentified bird sings
three times.
At times it sang for longer and had scratchy notes within its
song, at other times its extended song sounded quite rich with
fluty notes. Most of the time it just repeated the short phrase
that can be heard in the video.
A small bird was seen perched momentarily on a bare branch
at the back of the hedge before flying off low along the hedge.
The same song was then heard down the hedge towards the
Middle Pit.
This bird was relocated, seen and heard, on the 3rd May
and turned out to be a male Blackcap.
Bird & wildlife photos taken at Holmethorpe Sand Pits, Surrey and the surrounding area.
